Company History

Founded in 1992 by Mike Bukaty, Bukaty Companies is one of the Kansas City area’s largest privately owned employee benefits and insurance brokerage firms. From its early beginnings as a two-person office, the business has grown to more than 200 employees representing more than 1,600 health/welfare clients.

The success of Bukaty Companies stems from our long-standing tradition and commitment to provide outstanding client service. We value our relationships and work hard to earn our client’s trust. As a result of our commitment to excellence, our five-year client retention rate is 96%.

Leadership

Mike is an employee benefits specialist with more than 20 years of experience. His list of clients includes some of Kansas City’s most established businesses. Today he primarily focuses on large-group accounts, whether fully insured or partially self-insured.

He works to provide his clients an employee benefits package that offers the best product at the best cost. This simple philosophy, combined with an unparalleled commitment to service, has allowed Bukaty Companies to be recognized as one of the Kansas City area’s most successful privately owned brokerage firms. As the business founder, Mike continually evaluates how the addition of new products and services can be of added benefit to clients.

As an agency principal, Dan joined the team in 2005 bringing with him more than 16 successful years of experience owning his own agency. Dan’s areas of expertise include workers' compensation and packaged insurance programs for small business owners. With a previous background in the building trades, Dan is also well positioned to serve the unique needs of general and artisan contractors. He has proven skills in helping business owners and contractors navigate through the complexities of contractual insurance requirements – a pitfall often overlooked by less seasoned agents. Dan earns his clients’ business by earning their confidence.

Vince Morris joined Bukaty Companies in 2001 as owner and president of the Financial Services division. Vince oversees the division’s Retirement Consulting, Wealth Management, Investment Management, and third-party administration areas. He also serves as president of Resources Investment Advisors Inc., an SEC-registered investment advisor and support center that helps advisor-affiliates with compliance, business, and marketing services.

Vince has helped hundreds of corporate clients design, implement and more effectively administer their retirement plans. Under his direction, Bukaty Companies’ Financial Services has grown from a startup to a branch office with 35 staff members, 200 institutional clients, and over $2 billion in assets.

Vince was named most successful advisor by PlanSponsor magazine from 2007 to 2014 and was nominated for Advisor of the Year the same years. Institutional Investors magazine recognized him as a Top 20 Rising Star in the retirement plan industry in 2008, and he’s been named one of the 300 Most Influential Advisors by 401kwire.com and the Defined Contribution Institute. Vince passed his FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 examinations. He’s earned PlanSponsor Retirement Professional (PRP) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designations and holds a degree in economics from the University of Kansas.

Mary joined Bukaty Companies in 2003 to help build the company’s communications, human resource consulting and wellness programs. Mary’s focus is to provide clients with news and analysis of carrier changes, industry trends, regulatory changes and benefit developments. She works directly with clients to ensure seamless integration of wellness, benefit and communication activities.

She received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and has a master’s degree in marketing. She also has earned the Professional in Human Resource designation from the Human Resource Certification Institute.
